Bringing the women behind the movement into focus

Keggie Carew’s article, from which this video is adapted, celebrates women at the forefront of environmental protection, from pioneering campaigners to conservationists restoring ecosystems and safeguarding endangered species. Their stories span generations and continents, united by a determination to protect the natural world.

I adapted the article into a micro-documentary, bringing together archival photographs, wildlife and location footage, alongside images and clips of the women featured in the piece. This involved contacting individuals and organisations to secure permissions for material that would bring their work and achievements directly into the film.

The challenge was to weave these diverse stories into a cohesive film, giving a sense of each woman’s contribution while building a broader picture of their collective impact.
