The Freedom
Paradox
Adapted from an article by Mic Wright, Journalist and Author

Turning an abstract argument into a human story

Mic Wright’s article explores the complicated nature of freedom: how much choice we really have and the forces that shape the lives we believe we have chosen for ourselves.

Rather than simply illustrating the essay, I developed an original narrative thread around a recurring protagonist, giving the article a visual story of its own.

The aim was to create something that worked emotionally as well as intellectually, allowing viewers to experience the argument through the character’s journey rather than a sequence of conventional B-roll illustrating each point.

About

Who’s asking?

I’m Khaled, a London-based art director and designer working across film, editorial, brand, digital and print.

That might mean developing a visual identity, shaping the look and feel of a publication, turning an article into a film or building a story from scratch. I’m happiest when I can understand the bigger picture, help shape the thinking and then carry that through into the finished work.

I work independently and collaboratively with founders, editors, marketers and creative teams on projects that need both strong ideas and strong visual execution.

So. What do you
want to say?

If you have an idea, project or story that could use strong creative thinking and visual direction, get in touch.
